K-5 Abuse Prevention Curriculum
The Columbia Public Schools Abuse Prevention Program was established in the 1980s by a group of counselors, teachers, and parents. Today, this safety prevention program is delivered district-wide in grades K-5 as a part of the curriculum component of the Comprehensive School Counseling Program. The Second Step Child Protection Unit is used to teach essential skills to promote personal safety.
