The purpose of the District Wellness Committee is to establish district goals and to oversee school health and safety policies and programs, including development, implementation, evaluation, and updates of the district level wellness policy. The District Wellness Committee consists of district, school, and community members who meet at least 4 times per year.Mission: To promote health, well-being, and achievement by supporting the school community: physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially in a healthy school environment.Vision: Create a unified culture of well-being across schools so all students and staff can thrive. All local education agencies participating in the National School Lunch Program are required to have a wellness policy outlining their efforts to create and implement supportive nutrition and physical activity environments (Child Nutrition and Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Reauthorization Act of 2004). In 2010 the wellness policy requirements were update and strengthened under the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, and the USDA Final Wellness Policy Rule (2016).
